Fall Winter 2018 Trend Report

We can’t wait for the winds of winter. As we approach Fall Winter 2018, here’s a checklist of trends you need to keep handy. Make sure those shopping lists tally up with our concise Fall Winter 2018 trend report.

Animal Print

Winter is looking wild. From Tom Ford’s fiery red leopard suits, to Diane Von Furstenberg’s fierce-but-feminine ruffled dresses, to Balenciaga’s wild prints – there’s plenty to love. Carolina Herrera’s folksy take is on the animal motifs gets our vote too.

Pyjama Dressing

Rolling out of bed to a party is still acceptable. Luxe satin twinsets and hints of lace get a glamorous update in the hands of Givenchy and Bottega Veneta. If it’s silky and slouchy, it fits the bill. Think of Marques’Almeida’s flowy, matched separates, and Roksanda’s dreamy prints on butterscotch silks.

Hologram Shine

It’s your time to shine. No, seriously. Shiny, reflective unicorn hues adorned everything from Sies Marjan trench coats to Balmain’s staple jackets and bodycon dresses and suits. It’s as if someone told Maison Margiela to take tinfoil but “make it fashion”.

Luxe Leather

Supple leather gets a cool, feminine do over in the form of ruffled skirts, ankle-skimming dresses and skater dresses with zippered trails in the hands of Celine, Hermes and Alexander McQueen. Saint Laurent leather shorts and jackets are still on the top of our fashion charts though.

Cool Checks

Look to Cher Horowitz for inspiration. Checks doused in primary hues are all the rage again. Trust Michael Kors and Versace to channel the prep-school vibe. Burberry reinvents their classic plaid in rainbow colours for Christopher Bailey’s swan song.

Over-The-Top Orange

Push Millennial Pink to the back of the wardrobe and make room for the new contender: Safety Orange. The uniform-worthy hue takes over Balenciaga bags, Burberry’s life-vest like shirts and Prada’s street-wear inspired dresses.
