How to Wear FW ’16 for Destination Weddings
Destination weddings have become one of the most convenient and fun excuses for an extended vacation to a new place. We’ve been to weddings in Beirut, Tuscany, New York and Marrakesh this year alone! When planning to attend a destination wedding, you want to dress up for the wedding but also need outfits for exploring the city through the day. We’ve picked four wedding destinations and what you should wear for day vs. night.
Sitting pretty on the Danube River, the Austrian capital’s city centre is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the best cities to visit if you are into classical European music, Vienna was the preferred workplace of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Brahms. Vienna is full of incredible Baroque castles and hotels along with opera houses and quaint cobblestone streets making it a natural choice for a summertime wedding.
Spend the day visiting the 100+ art museums, St. Stephan’s Cathedral and Beethoven’s various residences via horse drawn carriage. Stop by the oldest café on the Ringstrasse, Café Schwarzenberg for rich Viennese coffee (which replaces milk with whipped cream) and apple strudel. Speak structural elegance with this cut out Tome masterpiece.

Galle, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is quickly becoming one of the most popular destinations for Indians given its proximity to India along with white sand beaches, nature reserves and tea plantations. Galle sits on the southwestern tip of the island and is home to the historic Galle Fort. Galle is a fortified city built in the Portuguese colonial style while the fort is the largest remaining such structure in Asia. A wedding here can take advantage of the colonial architecture, palm lined beaches and spicy Sri Lankan cuisine.
Set amidst lush greenery and cool sea breezes, you can’t feel anything but relaxed while in Galle. Walk through the old town and stop by the Fort Printers Hotel for a traditional Sri Lankan seafood thali. Pick this bright, layered mini-dress by Alexander McQueen teamed with a cross body bag.

It is hard to ignore the tropical spirit of Galle so opt for a light dress to dance the night away as your loved ones tie the knot at the Amangalla Hotel. Built in 1684, expect stately old world charm and modern 5-star amenities. Team this experience with a floral, ruffled Peter Pilotto gown.

Boasting the second largest number of skyscrapers of any city, Hong Kong is an urban jungle and cosmopolitan mecca. Weddings here can take advantage of the natural harbor and charter yachts to nearby islands. The city is a sprawling metropolis where you will find some of the best shopping, dining and nightlife in the East.
Spend your day away from the wedding party exploring designer boutiques and antique shops on Hollywood Road. Head over to the Landmark to get your dim sum fix at David Tang’s Michelin starred China Tang restaurant. Opt for a reconstructed denim dress by Sacai.

Celebrate the happy couple over drinks at the Café Grey Bar on the 49th floor of the uber swank Upper House Hotel. Fit in perfectly with this black and white Christoper Kane dress.

Narrow lanes, autorickshaws and crumbling architecture make Hyderabad a city where past meets present. Established under the Qutb Shahi dynasty in 1591, Hyderabad has been home to two of the wealthiest Muslin royal houses, remnants of which are present even today. Traditionally a pearl and diamond trading hub, Hyderabad is still known as the City of Pearls. A wedding in Hyderabad means opulent, regal and super Bollywood.
During the day, we suggest visiting the bazaars near Charminar before stopping off for an indulgent meal of Hyderabadi biryani. Opt for something light and breezy by Saloni to make room for all that delicious food.

The famed Faluknama Palace is one of the most beautiful buildings you will ever visit. It belonged to the Paigah family and is now owned by Taj Hotels. Attend the sit-down reception at one of the hotels opulent dining rooms in a silver brocade Mary Katrantzou dress.
