Stylist Kshitij Kankaria’s Guide to Monsoon Dressing
DO WEAR… Flowy garments and silhouettes are best avoided giving way to fitted garments that are easier to wear and hassle free during this time of the year. After all, monsoon in India can be a tricky season. Bright colours and pastel tones go a long way to uplift ones spirits and fashion choices in the upcoming gloomy muggy months.
CHOOSE FABRICS LIKE… cottons and polyester. Cotton is a timeless fabric, easy and fuss free. Polyester is a perfect water proof alternatives for this season.
STAY CLEAR OF… Layering. It’s best avoided during this period, not just in terms of clothing but even when considering accessories. Classic and minimal fashion choices go a long way during the rainy season.
RETIRE THOSE… cool pair of sneakers. As much as I enjoy wearing them, they might as well take a backseat for the season and make a comeback during the winter. Also, it’s best to stow away your leather, silks and suedes to avoid damage.
FIND INSPIRATION IN… anything and anywhere, as long as one has a keen eye and it resonates with one’s being. So anything that strikes a chord with one’s personal aesthetic and style could be a source of inspiration.
