Masque Goes Street Style for their 3 Year Anniversary!
There’s no doubt that Masque has been one of the most noteworthy restaurants in the modern Indian food diaspora. And we have to admit, we’ve been fans since a long time now. This year, the restaurant turns 3 and they’ve set the bar for celebrations a notch higher than them all! In collaboration with Sonal Ved, food editor of Conde Nast, and Bombay Food Truck, Masque has hit the road in street style at Lodha World Towers (from 13th to 15th September) and Godrej BKC (from 16th to 20th September). Here’s a look into what went down when we visited them this weekend –
The menu hit all the right notes with hints of Kashmir! The personal touch of Mama Sadhu’s recipes definitely stole our heart but what we loved the most was the pork neck burger with an egg. Given Chef Prateek Sadhu’s soft spot for pork, we had some rather large expectations for the burger which were thoroughly satisfied. We’d even go as far as saying it’s possibly one of the best burgers we’ve ever had.
Fear not vegetarians, there’s equal options on the menu that are just as delicious. The mushroom and breadfruit sando is a take on the local Bombay street sandwich with an international twist. True to their spirit, they’ve explored local Indian ingredients and used them in a manner that’s cross-cultural, yet very much rooted back here at home. It comes with a fermented Kashmire chilli sauce and the chips made from the vegetable trimmings of every station. Creative and sustainable – A definitive trait of Masque.
Our experience wouldn’t have been wholesome without Chef Prateek Sadhu’s take on Bhut Jolokia. If you like spicy, this sauce is totally up your ally and definitely not for the weak hearted. Amongst our favourite sauces was the Peach Ketchup. Yes, we never thought we’d hear those words together either but the combination works beautifully! All in all, it’s safe to say we’re making another trip to the food truck during this week at Godrej BKC to satisfy our cravings. And we strongly suggest you try it too.
P.S – they’re likely to sell out before the end of the day. We’d hurry before it’s too late!
