Ruchika Sachdeva Plays Favourites with Bodice’s FW16 Collection
With AW16 Bodice explores transitional wardrobe staples through the pursuit of innovation alongside the use of India’s indigenous textiles. Modern tailoring that includes a respect for the provenance of craft, an awareness of individual purpose and a responsibility towards fair business practices. We caught up with Ruchika Sachdev as she highlighted a few of her favourite pieces from the FW16 collection.
This white cotton dress is a good example Bodice’s signature style. It’s structured yet feminine. It falls straight on the body with geometric pleats and the seams are detailed with twill tape. A perfect white dress for fall which can be worn to work and then transitioned smoothly to an evening dinner.
This look is one of my favourites – the white tailored top and silk organza skirt. The top is structured which contrasts beautifully with the fluidity of the skirt. Each pleat is covered with fabric by hand which provides the architectural quality to the lines in the skirt. Despite being very strong together as a look, these pieces also work very well as separates.
We are in love with culottes these days. They provide the volume of a skirt with the comfort of trousers. These culottes with white contrast binding pleats create a beautiful play of lines, which look even better when you are moving. The classic combination of black and white can easily be paired with anything.
This easy fitted dress is naturally dyed using plant based indigo dye. The handmade woven cotton-silk provides the perfect balance between the silk’s sheen and cotton’s comfort. The black paneling on the side makes the body look leaner and nobody minds that!
The structure of this jumpsuit is what makes it special. The square neckline and the pleats below the waist make a strong statement in cobalt blue. The fabric has been developed in-house at our studio where cotton is coated with colour as opposed to being dyed which gives a special finish, best suited for this silhouette.
You can shop these pieces at Le Mill.
